I always thought of my interest in the British royals as a semi-ironic joke…something to mock, while still following major gossip.
Well, after learning of Prince William’s engagement to “waity Katey,” I think I’ve realized that I might actually care. The extent to which I was excited yesterday passed irony by about a mile - yes, I watched the full interview with William and Kate, and then watched her parents statement. I also called and emailed my mother, texted my sister and continuously mentioned the engagement to Dave throughout the evening.
Direct quote: “if only we were British subjects, then we could be really excited!”
It’s not like I need to cling to irony. It’s cool. But somehow, I feel like I shouldn’t care. OH WELL. SO EXCITED. How do I get a ticket to this wedding?
